Each time I leave on a trip it takes at least 12 hours to pack & prepare for departure, some kind of OCD thing that kicks in & completely overwhelms me. To add a kinky twist we went to our Wednesday night bowling league — we are dedicated athletes – then drove all night.
By arriving on Thursday we were able to visit with my aunt’s family before the onslaught of wedding guests. We got to see their new home, which started out like this:
As if that wasn’t nice enough, they turned it into this:
My daughter got to visit with the new baby AND his big sister, my favorite grandmother’s namesake. She was in heaven:
My uncle is one of the funniest, most interesting people in the entire world. His entertainment center holds a total of seven televisions, which he watches simultaneously. This masculine multi-tasking makes him THE MAN in my book, which is why he gets this incredibly creative [...]

For my birthday last week, I had Jay clean out the shed (Yes, that’s what I wanted for my birthday) In the process though, it was decided (for now) that we are done having babies, and it was time to make some room in said shed, have a garage sale and get rid of baby stuff. So I sadly got rid of the bassinet, the swing, the half dozen boxes of baby girl clothes. While I like the idea of another baby, its probably not the best idea when we have a 3 bedroom house and a negative bank account. So, while I’m wishy washy (my friend Shelly said I was talking out of both sides of my mouth) Jay says no more babies for me. You can all stop holding your breath now for me to announce another pregnancy. I guess it ain’t gonna happen. It’s just that my babies [...]

Last Birthday my son was gifted a baby Carom Board by my neighbour. For the first two days he would put the board on the carpet, rather ask me to do it, and then sit on it and pretend to drive a car. Then he discovered the carom coins. that started a new pass time of building towers. First we wanted to build the highest possible tower, then we wanted to build to seperate towers with the two colours, after which we wanted to build a big tower with alternating colours. This lasted for a week, we would build up the tower and then crash it.
It was only then that we discovered the queen and the striker. At which stage we forgot all about the board and the remaining coins which went into semi-retirement. The queen and the striker however became an essential part of our existence. They were asked [...]

I’m not usually someone who plans a lot of stuff for the weekends. My work weeks are so chock full o’ meetings and interviews and training classes and more meetings that I like to have weekends with NOTHING planned. (except for maybe some naps) Not so for this weekend.
Saturday afternoon we hosted Marti & Lew along with their kids and my sister Jillian for a night of games, food and margaritas! Can I just say that it was the first time I had ever heard my baby sister referred to as a “whore” - thanks for that, Marti! Ha! (we’re a teensy bit competitive when we play games)
Today I had to work on scrapping for my Design Team gig at Serendipity Kits & knock out a few layouts to be posted for tomorrow. (you can check them out at the site!) Then tonight we had a delicious dinner with my sisters & family.
See [...]

True story.
Yesterday we took the kids bowling at one of those family arcade joints. We had a blast. My only complaints were that real bowling is way harder than Wii bowling and the place was crazy loud. Like Vegas. Bells, lights, chaos. It was “Cosmic Bowling” in black light…really hard to keep the 18 month old out of other people’s lanes, especially with his ball obsession. Also hard to keep track of the kids in the arcade. Especially three…they had us outnumbered. So, I must confess, there were moments when one child was unsupervised, but never for long. It was like triage…always keep eyes or hands on baby, know the general vicinity of the middle child, hope the best for the first born. But overall, the kids did great. They played the games, won a gazillion tickets, traded them in at the goodie counter for some lead-based, petroleum derivative, made-in-China choking-hazards, and [...]

I also had a post in draft mode about being punished with a baby, Obama’s comment about abortion. If his daughters got pregnant, he would not want them “punished with a baby.”
I was listening to Mike Reagan talk one night while I was working, and he was incensed over this comment, as I have been, as well. For those of us whose parents chose NOT to abort us when they easily could have, the abortion debate is more than just a theory. I do not think my birthmom felt she was being “punished” with a baby. I know that my niece’s birthmom did not feel that she was being “punished” with a baby when she became pregnant at 16.
And to even say such a thing is to completely misunderstand the meaning of “Punish.” A baby is a natural consequence of having sex.
To Punish, according to Dictionary.com, is “to subject to [...]

Curious J is sound asleep in her crib at the moment, and JJ and I are breathing a sigh of relief. She had two exciting incidents today, both involving bodily harm, so we’re glad that she made it through the day in one piece.
First exciting incident happened during church today. It was my week to be on the organ bench, and as usual, JJ was up front waving his arms around wildly and trying to preach something similar to the manuscript in front of him. (j/k ) Anyway, on these kinds of mornings where each of us are occupied, I do my best to have the baby go down for her nap around 10am, which is half an hour before church starts. Then I give a housekey and our long-range baby monitor to someone at church, someone who is willing to go up to the house and get the [...]

I’m setting the last post I wrote to private. I got my venting out, which is what I needed to do and now I’m going to move on from it.
I spoke to SIL today, she and the baby are doing well. Although I don’t like the situation, I am mulling over sending a gift. This is my niece and I’m sure SIL would appreciate it. I’m not really sure what to give, although I kind of see myself mailing something rather than going over there, so it can’t be too huge. I guess I’ll have to see.
MIL and grandparents in law are coming over tomorrow. MIL and grandma IL and I plan on going to look at baby things. I’ve already gone out and bought some clothes because Walmart had this awesome clearance where everything summery was $1 or $2. Then I picked up a couple things in Kohls too because [...]

my life
When I was 5 months pregnant, my baby was diagnosed with hydrohephrosis, a common kidney disfunction. From the moment of his birth on June 3, it had been a whirlwind of ultra-sounds, tests and antibiotics. The first week of July, while being scheduled for a test, he got a high fever and was admitted into the hospital, barely a month old. We stayed there for one week. By the time we were about to leave, my father (in another city) got admitted to the hospital for pneumonia.
Husband, son and I flew to Manila a few days after. Papa had been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer last September 2007. The past year had been a whirlwind of chemotherapy, stem cell therapy, my pregnancy, the wedding, births (my sister in December and me in June) and work at the ranch. He even managed to go to Texas last March for [...]
